ChildWatch.ie is an independent resource of specialised computer and internet security information, education and consulting for public and private organisations, schools, universities, NGO's and others

We are focused on researching IT security issues and educating children, teenagers, teachers, parents, business owners, IT and HR staff, and government organisations about the risks that are a factor in our lives at home and in business.

We support many organisations through our Digital Research and Abuse Watch entries

Digital Research is our investigative element where we look at a variety of issues that are relevant to the safety of children in computing. When we go out and speak to teenagers in schools about issues to do with their safety, predators using illegal child abuse material, teenagers looking for cyber sex, bullying etc: we are talking from the standpoint of a unit of security consultants that research and work on the front line linking with many professional and legal organisations throughout the world.

We are also following news reports of child abuse and exploitation coming from around the world so that the site visitor can get an impression of this unspoken world of suffering for children.

The Barnardos Report

Barnardos Report - we authored the "Three Hazards - Child Protection in the Electronic Age" report launched by Minister Andrews in Oct 09 focussing on three primary issues associated with children and teenagers on the internet:  Children's Personal Privacy - Children's Data Privacy - Child Sex Abuse Imagery. The report made a number of key recommendations which are being addressed at this time.

Demand is brisk for presentations to students, teachers and parents groups in the current Autumn term (2010/2011 school year)

Professional Services to public/private organisations and individual private clients.

The heat is being raised dramatically following the RTE PTI program about illegal child material and abusers on the internet. Business owners and managers need to be alert to the problems associated with people in their organisations consuming such material or interacting with  children in a manner that is objectionable or illegal.

Many organisations are being abused by the use of brands in advertising on illegal child sites. Few people understand the techniques utilised to inject advertising of unwitting brands into pages containing images and/or links to child pornography.  Web site owners who have been targeted are stunned to find out that their server space has been hijacked and child porn sites placed on them.

Software developers also have a responsibility to ensure that their product is secure and cannot be used by these same criminal elements. For instance white listed emailer systems being accessible to criminals redirecting paedophiles to their latest sites.

We have assisted some of the world's largest IT companies in dealing with these issues, and we can help your organisation also.

We can further assist HR and IT Managers to understand the elements involved in users consuming child pornography and grooming children. Creating a policy that covers this area requires that administration has a level of understanding of the issues involved.
